The Stewards have considered the matter with the seriousness it does not deserve, and determine the following:

IndyCar Freedom 250 Organisers Confirm Race Named After Distance They Had Not Yet Calculated
Decision
The Stewards find that the Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington D.C. was designed, marketed, and sold to the public under a name derived from a number that organisers had not, at the time of naming, verified against the proposed lap count. A subsequent audit determined that 125 laps of the circuit would produce 212.5 miles. The Stewards note that the discrepancy of 37.5 miles was identified without the use of specialist equipment. No further action is required, as the event name has been considered and found to be aspirational.
