Decision NASCAR has confirmed that hosting a Cup Series race in San Diego required building an entirely self-sufficient, mobile power grid specifically for the event — a logistical undertaking roughly equivalent to relocating a small city for one weekend. The Stewards note that a sport built around cars that generate their own combustion apparently still needed a dedicated electrical infrastructure project just to broadcast them doing it, and file this under "the least surprising thing NASCAR has ever over-engineered."
